Max Hoffman, erfolgreicher Porsche Verkäufer in den USA hatte 1952 die Idee eine leichte, offene und besonders sportliche Version des 356 nach Amerika zu bringen und lässt den ?American Roadster? mit Aluminium Karosserie entwickeln. Aufgrund des damals sehr hohen Preises konnte Hoffman nur 24 Einheiten absetzten. Erst der Speedster aus Stahlblech gefertigt, ermöglichte eine kostengünstigere Produktion und mehr Absatz. Der Speedster war wie geschaffen für die kaufkräftige Klientel Hollywoods. Spätestens seitdem James Dean den Speedster fuhr, wurde der wohl puristischste aller Porsche zu Ikone der Zuffenhausener Sportwagenmarke.

Dieser Porsche Speedster wurde gemäß KARTEX in 1955 gefertigt und über den Importeur Hoffman in New York ausgeliefert. Der Wagen wurde in Deutschland durch einen Porsche Fachbetrieb von der Rohkarosserie neu aufgebaut. Dieser Speedster besitzt eine deutsche Straßenzulassung und aufgrund seines frühen Baujahres Mille Miglia zugelassen.

Max Hoffman, a successful Porsche salesman in the USA, had the idea in 1952 to bring a light, open and particularly sporty version of the 356 to America. He had the "American Roadster" with aluminum bodywork developed. Due to the very high price at that time Hoffman could only sell 24 units. Only the Speedster, made of sheet steel, made a more economical production and more sales possible. The Speedster was made for the wealthy clientele of Hollywood. After James Dean drove the Speedster, the probably most puristic of all Porsche became the icon of the Zuffenhausen sports car brand.

This Porsche Speedster was manufactured according to KARTEX in 1955 and delivered via the importer Hoffman in New York. The car built up completely new on bare metal in Germany by a Porsche Specialist. This Speedster has a German road approval and is Mille Miglia approved due to its early year of construction.
