- Lovely restoration
- Matching numbers
- Restored by the Cremonini workshop
This Porsche 356 Pre-A coup‚ has spent the majority of its life in the United States. In 1990 it was brought back to Europe, travelling to Italy, and was acquired two years later by an enthusiast from Modena. He took the car to the Cremonini Workshop, also in Modena, renowned for their work on top-level Ferrari and Maserati motor cars. The workshop applied the same rigorous methods to this Porsche and it emerged from restoration at the start of this year. The results are impressive. According to the owner, the white tint chosen for the body is the original colour, and the car is fitted with the original, matching numbers engine. This Pre-A has the slightly V-shaped windscreen of the earliest versions, and a red painted metal dash fitted with a rare Telefunken radio.
The 356 is one of the great classic sports car models of the 1950s and, in this version, retains the purity of the original design. This model provided the origins of a personality seen in all future Porsches, with 911s leaving the factory today still displaying the fundamental principles established by the first 356s. This rare Pre-A therefore represents a truly historic record.
