Highly sought after by connoisseurs, the Porsche Pre-A in the early years after its launch at the Geneva Motor Show in 1949, still featured a two-part windscreen and integrated " bodybumpers ".
According to this car's " Kardex " specification document, this 1500 version left the factory on 26 October 1951, its 60 bhp making it the most powerful at that time. Another period document indicates that the body was delivered by Reuter to Porsche on 19 October 1951 and specifies the colours and materials of the bodywork and interior. It was delivered new to a local distillery in Bielefeld, Germany, presented in " fish silver grey 505 " as confirmed by its Porsche certificate. The Kardex shows that the car returned to Porsche in 1952 when it had covered 6275 km, and again at 20166 km. This precious document also mentions that the engine number was 30236, a 1500 Type 527 model. The current engine displays number 30071, transferred onto the 1952 crankcases used to rebuild a similar configuration engine. The gearbox is not syncronised, as correct for that period.
Discovered in a dilapidated state in 2012 by the current owner, a Porsche Pre-A collector, the car was entrusted to the renowned business Nostalgie Cars Gmbh in Germany to have the engine, bodywork and upholstery refurbished, work that is documented in the invoices. The body was restored and repainted with nitrocellulose paint, as the original. The upholstery has been renewed respecting the original colours. More recently, much work has been carried out to ensure that the car drives well. Requiring just a few finishing touches to perfect its large-scale restoration, this rare 1500 constitutes a choice piece for collectors, as the version fitted with the Type 527 engine was only marketed for a few months.
