Beschreibung

Introduced in 1946, following the return to consumer goods production in post-WWII Italy, the Piaggio Company created the Vespa – Italian for “wasp,” an ingenious, simple, stylish, and vitally important vehicle, that enabled new mobility for the Italian population. Their sleek design and ease of operation launched a worldwide transportation revolution that is still evident today, almost 80 years later. Constant improvements to the Vespa’s components include the introduction of front suspension, stiffer frames, and increases in engine displacement and power. The Faro Basso or “Low Light” scooters built during the company’s first decade are considered by many as the most elegant and purest expression of Piaggio’s design.

With known history since new, this 124 cc Vespa from 1952 was first sold in Alassio, Italy, near Genova, and has been beautifully restored. According to documents on file, it was fitted with its “Stabil” utility trailer within its first year. These handy trailers, available in several configurations, were marketed to the thousands of Vespa riders seeking to expand the abilities of their scooters. One can imagine the amount of grapes one would hold for a local vintner, or flour for delivery to village bakeries.

Brilliantly restored, uncommonly documented, and a tremendous source of fun, this unique and stylish Vespa, together with its longtime utilitarian companion, is the perfect vehicle for any number of unforgettable activities.

*Please note that this vehicle has been in long-term static storage and may require mechanical attention prior to road use.
