Packard’s first post–World War II cars continued the Clipper series introduced during 1941. The ‘senior’ One-Sixty and One-Eighty series were dropped, their places taken by longer-wheelbase Super Clippers and Custom Super Clippers. The most prestigious Packard was the Custom Super Clipper seven-passenger limousine, the car offered here.

A largely original car, it shows considerable patina throughout. The black paint polishes up well, and the brightwork is very presentable. The passenger compartment is upholstered in tan cloth, which shows little wear. Jump seats for two bring seating to seven overall. The division partition has crank-down glass. Black leather seating in the chauffeur’s compartment appears original and very well patinated. The instrumentation is metric, indicating European delivery, the odometer showing slightly more than 67,000 km.

A regal Packard from the immediate post-war era, this would garner attention in any collection of American classics on either side of the Atlantic.

Os primeiros Packard do período pós-II Guerra deram continuidade à série Clipper, apresentada em 1941. As séries One-Sixty e One-Eighty foram descontinuadas, substituídas por versões com distância entre eixos maior, designadas Super Clipper e Custom Super Clipper. O Packard mais caro e distinto era o Custom Super Clipper limousine, de sete lugares, precisamente o modelo apresentado.

Trata-se de um automóvel maioritariamente em estado original. A passagem dos anos resultou numa visível e bonita pátina, presente de uma forma homogénea. A pintura a preto aceita polimento e os cromados estão muito apresentáveis. O compartimento dos passageiros está revestido a tecido bege, com pouco uso aparente. Dois bancos ocasionais, (também chamados “strapotins”), elevam a capacidade para sete lugares. A divisória elevatória em vidro é comandada por uma manivela basculante. No compartimento do motorista, o revestimento em pele preta dos bancos está original e com uma agradável pátina, suave e generalizada. A instrumentação com unidades métricas revela que se trata de uma versão europeia deste modelo. O conta-quilómetros revela pouco mais de 67.000 quilómetros.
