The car on offer is a 1927 4th series Standard Eight model, according to its engine nr. 226-580A. The 4th series was introduced on July 1st., 1927 and the engine numbers ran from 225-013 until 232-815 (the engine number being the main identification code for pre-war Packards). 1927 was the first year for the increased capacity of 385 cubic inch (6.310 cc) for the straight-eight engine. With serial number 226-395, the car was produced during the third quarter of 1927 as a 443 model: the first '4' indicates the series, and the '43' indicates the wheelbase of 143 inch (3.632 mm).
The Roadster model is a factory two-seater convertible with rumble seat and two extra small 'golf' doors left and right to enter a luggage compartment. During the 20's and 30's of the last century, Buenos Aires was called 'the Paris of South America' and Argentina was a fast growing economy. The car on sale was sold new to the well-known Blacquier family, important landlords and sugar mill owners in Argentina. The car would remain their property for almost 80 years (!), until it was sold to a local collector in 2006 who commissioned a total, ground-up and body-off restoration from the reputed Pursang workshop in Paranà, Argentina. It also included the complete revision of engine, drivetrain, suspensions and brakes. Today, the car has covered less than 500 kilometers after this tremendous job that has fully returned this important historical motor car to its former glory.
It presents a fascinating opportunity for any collector of the marque or the era to purchase an excellent, ready-to-use classic car, and who will be surprised of the performance and drivability of this vintage Packard, even in today's traffic.
