The 1952 Patrician “400” was the most expensive standard Packard available, equipped with gorgeous upholstery and four chrome ports on the rear fenders. The preservation and extraordinary low mileage of this example illuminates just what they were like when new.

This Patrician was purchased in December 1951, in Fullerton, California, by a successful local farmer, WWII veteran and Packard aficionado who needed a four-passenger vehicle for taking his family to church. The tale of the 400, relayed to the consignor by a relative of the original owner, says the farmer proudly drove it to church every Sunday until one day finding the antenna had been broken off in the parking lot. Shocked, he took the Packard home and never drove it again. He would start and clean it, but the 400 did not leave his property until after his passing.

The preserved Packard was discovered by the consignor in 2016 and bought from the farmer’s estate with 1,312 miles on the odometer. The consignor carefully serviced the car only as needed to return it to running order. It retains its original “Super Squeegee” tires, jack, “Git Um” Dust Cloth, whisk broom, Travelite, and Magnetlite, each in original packaging, along with manuals, and letters to the original owner.
