Trade-in car. This Packard one-twenty 2+2 is a unique car with a unique story behind it. Emilio Trudel was the second owner of this stylish convertible. Our research has revealed Mr Trudel most likely accumulated his fortune in the textile industry. The Swiss-born Trudel lived near Bellinzona. He was 68 years old when in 1948 he bought this Packard 120 Convertible 2+2. The 1937 Packard already being 11 years old at the time. We have an absolutely unique car here. It is most probably the most original Packard in the world. The car still has its first coat of paint, has its original interior trim and amazingly its original hood! Isn’t that quite something? Considering the former you could see this Packard as the ultimate candidate to be restored. You, however, would not be honouring this car’s provenance in the least. Consider that a sin, cars like these need to be conserved. A Packard in this original condition can not be bought again. The reason this grand old lady is in such original condition is simply explained by the fact Trudel knew he had acquired something special and cherished the car. Unfortunately the car’s history up to 1948 is unknown. The car was first registered in Switzerland in 1948 and until recently has remained there. After Trudel had acquired the car, the Packard was sent to the Rheinfelden car museum. That is where it stayed until we were able to purchase the car. The car went into the museum in non-riding condition. The head gasket leaks and whilst a start has been made on repairs it still needs to be completed. Fortunately, a head gasket is present. As it would appear this car has not moved in over 30 years, a full overhaul is more than due. Considering the car’s overall condition the odometer reading of 66,041 km is most likely correct. Unfortunately, no service history is available, which does not mean the documentation present is not as impressive. The in 1880 born Trudel’s original driving licence, a museum article, a few photos and a tax paper form part of the paperwork. To be able to enjoy this lovely Packard One-Twenty 2+2 is just a matter of fully overhauling the mechanics. In short, this presents a unique opportunity to acquire an exceptional Packard. The chance of finding a 1937 car in this condition is already very small, finding a Packard One-Twenty is impossible!
