Beschreibung

It wasn’t until the 1930s that the Morgan Motor Company built a car that had four wheels instead of three. Introduced in 1936, the 4/4 used traditional coachbuilding methods of fitting steel or aluminum bodies over an ash frame. While looking similar to its predecessor, the Morgan Plus 4 was an updated version of the 4/4. Improvements included a strengthened frame, longer wheelbase, revised suspension, and hydraulic brakes. Produced from 1950 to 1969, it was continuously revised during its long model lifespan.

Among available body styles, the handsome Drophead Coupe was recognizable by tall, front-opening doors, fixed windshield stanchions, and elegant three-position folding top. Finished in black with painted wire wheels, this 1962 Morgan Plus 4 DHC is equipped with the desirable Triumph TR4A 2.1-litre engine producing 101 bhp, and accompanied by an original instruction book and spares catalogue. Stated to have undergone cosmetic and mechanical refreshing as needed, the paintwork has mellowed with age and remains presentable. The woodgrain instrument panel and steering wheel are both in excellent condition, while the black leather interior, although showing some wear, is very serviceable.

One of just 433 Plus 4 Drophead Coupes produced, this car should continue to offer characteristically British driving dynamics and upscale presence well into the future, and is an excellent opportunity to acquire a very nice example of the revered British marque.
