Beschreibung
The prototype that could have competed against the legendary Porsche 917.
Worthy representative of the Mirage, created by the unavoidable J.W Automotive ecurie, engineering sponsored by Gulf, and amongst the only cars that were built independently, to have had won the 24h of le Mans afterwar.
Sport-prototype (Group 6), whose birth in the M2 with a closed body in 1968 and the modification to the M3 Spyder in 1969, are often the result of the evolution of the regulations in Endurance racing.
Initially equipped with a V12 BRM engine with 24 then 48 valves, it was replaced during the season of 1969 with the Ford-Cosworth DFV Formula 1 V8, which was lighter and more competitive.
The spyder with two pole positions and a win in three races, driven by the greatest drivers of his time, like Jacky Ickx or Jackie Oliver.
Car restored in its configuration from the end of the 1969 WSC season with the highest performance by Vintage Racing Motors Inc. (USA) in 1996/1997: aluminum chassis (monohull) and bodywork, Ford-Cosworth DFV 3. 0L V8 engine combined with Hewland DG300 5-speed manual gearbox, ventilated brakes and double triangulation suspension at the front, for less than 640 Kg.
Known and documented history for this piece of the heritage of visionary team manager John Wyer, benefiting from all the experience gained with the GT 40 MK I and its evolution M1, in its superb Gulf livery, inseparable from the Mirage.
Unused since a few years, a revision and request for a new PTH is to be provided to run again.
A true endurance car, eligible for historic races such as Peter Auto’s Classic Endurance Racing series.
Many additional spare parts and several bodies with molds supplied (detail available on request).
