Guide price: £28000 - £32000.

Original UK-delivered, right-hand drive MKII 1622

Stunning restoration with fabulous attention to detail

Full mechanical overhaul and complete body rebuild to extremely high standards.

From a private collection and recently lightly used

A much-revered classic with good handling and decent performance

Launching MG sports cars into the modern era, the new MGA was first seen in September of 1955 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The traditional upright styling of the T-series had been replaced with streamlined bodywork derived from a series of racing prototypes. Production of the MGA ran through to July 1962 with the 1600 MK11 being the final model variant. The MGA had been initially powered by a 1498cc version of the B-series engine mated to a four-speed gearbox. In 1959, MG released the 1600 model featuring a larger 1588cc engine, disc brakes up front and rigid framed side screens with sliding windows. This was followed up just two years later with the facelifted MKII. Considered by enthusiasts to be the best of the push-rod MGA's, the 1622cc unit with the 'big valve' head developed 90bhp and linked to the revised 4:1 rear axle could propel the car to a top speed of 105mph.

Instantly recognisable by its recessed grille, the MKII MGA offers a fabulous blend of 1950's body-styling, predictable handling and superb performance. This desirable, final production MGA 1600 MKII Roadster has undergone an extensive 'nut and bolt' ground up restoration. The restoration included a full mechanical overhaul and complete body rebuild to extremely high standards. As a result, the Iris blue bodywork presents beautifully and, combined with the black leather seats piped in Iris Blue, this MGA must surely be one of the very best examples available.

On offer from a private collection of equally well cared for motor cars, this MGA is said to have only covered a few miles on trips to visit the local MOT centre since its restoration. The car is naturally MOT exempt but there are some recent MOT Certificates in the Owner's File with the rest of the normal paperwork.

Seriously pretty and quintessentially British, MGAs offer real driving pleasure on the open road and make great entries into local rallies and club events.
