We are happy to present this 1953 LHD MG TD. This fully restored and mechanically overhauled example still looks the part. The car comes in a fetching green exterior finish offset by the beige interior trim and hood. This car also has a number of interesting features. It has been fitted with a luggage rack, a tonneau cover, chrome wire wheels and a subtly placed third brake light giving just that bit more visibility.

The exterior has been perfectly maintained. The chassis was fully taken back to bare metal and resprayed, leaving it in good shape today. The bodywork is in excellent shape with nice and thin, correctly aligned panelwork. The green paintwork is in good condition with only minor signs of wear. The heavy-duty hood provides a secure shut. The chrome wire wheels still sparkle marvellously and are in a good state of repair. The Firestone tyres are correctly sized with ample tread left.

Inside matters are also just as well-tended for, clad in supple beige leather and fine black carpets underfoot. The wooden dashboard has been treated to a fresh layer of lacquer and looks great. All gauges, switches and controls are in great shape and are all in good working order. The original steering wheel forms a fine centrepiece in the cockpit.

The MG TD has a 1.3-litre 4-cylinder engine. The car has an independent front suspension. The TD is larger than its predecessor, the TC, in all aspects. This one has the stronger 57 Ps engine. The increased power is due to the raised compression ratio of 8.1:1. Transmission is provided through a precise manual 4-speed gearbox. Thanks to the revised rear axle and diff the car drives wonderful.

The MG has enjoyed excellent maintenance. The suspension is good and the brakes are quite responsive.

Over the last 10 years, the car has been owned by one and the same person who dedicated a lot of excellent care to the car’s upkeep. This MG TD comes with its original owner’s manual and invoices of the maintenance work carried out.
