Beschreibung

"The classic image of an MG parked rakishly beside the Nissan hut while a dozen Spitfire pilots scramble to their awaiting aircraft is part of the national psyche and was a common sight right around airfields in the South East during the Second World War. They were the car of choice for pilot officers and rightly so. Quick, pretty and reliable, just what was required during those stolen moments of relief from the aerial battles going on overhead. The TC superseded the ‘A’ and ‘B’ in 1945 followed by the TD in 1950.
Offered with excellent green coachwork and contrasting red interior, this charming example benefitted from a chassis up re-build in 2002 complete with photographic record and many of the original invoices and receipts. The engine has been re-built with the cylinder head converted for unleaded fuel, new +030 piston rings, a re-metal /grind crank shaft, new big end shells and a Stainless steel exhaust. After a change of ownership in 2004, the interior was replaced including carpets, side screens, hood and tonneau cover. Registered and verified by the MG Octagon Car Club, it was allocated an age related number plate in 2004 and regularly serviced and maintained since.
In 2012, the speedometer was repaired, refurbished and set to zero in January 2012 with some 1500 miles since and an estimated maximum total of 7,000 dry weather miles since the car was re-built. More recently, it has benefitted from a new water pump, thermostat and housing in August 2018 with brakes and master cylinder overhauled in 2019. In superb condition throughout and very reasonably priced, this time-less classic certainly follows the Spitfire maxim, quick, pretty and reliable."
