Beschreibung

GENERAL

The MG TD is the car that introduced many American ‘petrolheads’ to European sports cars. This green and black 1951 MG TD has remained with its original owner until 2013, when it was bought by the current seller.

Arguably the best colour combination possible for this model, the black and green paint work and green interior really work well together.

EXTERIOR

This TD has benefited from a good quality restoration a few years ago with the intent of having an exceptionally well driving TD.

The exterior of the car looks clean and the paintwork has been completely renewed in the past.

The brightwork is in good condition, and although not new, is looking pretty on the car.

The biggest blemish on the exterior is an area on the headlamp that was damaged by opening the bonnet carelessly.

The painted disc wheels with chrome hubcaps are in good shape and shodded with tires that have plenty of thread left.

The vinyl convertible top is in good and clean condition. The convertible top boot is also included in the sale.

INTERIOR

The green leather interior has been renewed using the correct materials and remains in very good condition.

The green vinyl dashboard is in good shape and hasn’t suffered too much from the sun. Pastel green Jaeger gauges and steering wheel complement the rest of the colour scheme nicely.
The steering wheel shows a few small cracks, but nothing that diminishes the look of interior.

The seats have clearly seen little use since they were reupholstered. The leather feels very supple and the foams are supporting well.

The door panels and the black carpets are fresh and clean. In short, this TD has a lovely interior that needs no attention for it to be a very good driver’s quality car.

The odometer is showing 25.234 miles, which is hard to verify considering the car’s age and the little service history that comes with it. However, considering the extensive restoration, this shouldn’t be an important factor with this car.

ENGINE

The 1250 cc four-cylinder XPAG engine is coupled to a 4 speed manual transmission. The engine bay wasn’t omitted during the restoration and looks fresh, matching the overall appearance of the car.

The car starts, steers, and brakes without effort. Revisions and servicing haven’t been documented in the past, but our experience driving this MG tells us it has been well-maintained in the past.

Anyone who has dealt with MG’s like this knows how much effort can go into making them perform well. That work has already been done on this car, resulting in a very well-performing example.

BODY

During the restoration, the body was removed from the chassis so that both parts could get the treatment they deserve. The classis was painted in semi-gloss black and still looks very clean.

The chassis, suspension and steering are all in good shape. The car has also recently passed the Belgium technical inspection, confirming this.

PAPER TRAIL

The car comes with Belgian documents.
