Beschreibung
"This car can be viewed in person from 14th to 18th July 2020 at our the auction site, Windsorview Lakes, Datchet, SL3 9HY
The 1950 MG TD combined the TC's drivetrain, a modified hypoid-geared rear axle, the MG Y-Type chassis, a familiar T-Type style body and independent suspension using coil springs from the MG Y-Type saloon. Also new were rack and pinion steering, smaller 15 road wheels, a lefthand drive option and standard equipment bumpers with over-riders. The car was also five inches wider with a track of 50 inches. In 1950, the TD Mk. II was introduced alongside the standard car, featuring a more highly tuned engine with 8.0:1 compression ratio giving 57bhp at 5500rpm. It also featured twin fuel pumps, revised dampers, and a higher rear axle ratio. Nearly 30,000 MG TD's were manufactured when the series ended in 1953, all but 1,656 were exported with 23,488 of them to the United States. An example tested by 'The Motor' magazine in 1952 had a top speed of 77mph and could accelerate from 0-60 mph in 18.2 seconds.Thought to have been originally registered in Scotland this MG has recently been recommissioned. The vendor has fitted a new fuel tank, together with new rear brakes, four tyres and had the instruments overhauled. It starts on the button and runs well. These delightful machines are straightforward in operation, reliable and easily repaired should anything go wrong with parts in plentiful supply from various MG Owners’ Clubs. Supplied with a V5C registration document and full year’s MoT test certificate this TD is a great entry level car into classic motoring at a relatively modest outlay. The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day."
