Beschreibung

"This car can be viewed in person from 14th to 18th July 2020 at our the auction site, Windsorview Lakes, Datchet, SL3 9HYThe MGA replaced the MG TF 1500 Midget and represented a complete styling break from MG’s earlier sports cars. Launched to the public at the 1955 Frankfurt Motor Show with its radically streamlined steel body, the MGA was a big leap forward in technology for MG. Concerned about how such a radically streamlined car would be accepted, MG chose to debut two prototype cars at the Le Mans 24 hour race. The prototype cars finished a very respectable 5th and 6th in class. Powered by the new B-Series engine that had recently debuted in the MG Magnette Saloon, its 1489cc engine produced 68bhp initially but was soon uprated to 72bhp offering impressive performance with a 0-60 time of just 16 seconds and a top speed of 98mph. During its production, a total of 101,081 cars were sold with a mere 5,869 being produced for the home market. Other significant improvements included hydraulic Lockheed drum brakes all round, rack and pinion steering and independent coil spring suspension to the front and semi-elliptic springs to the rear
This delightful MGA is a genuine UK example and was originally registered on 26th June 1961. The current vendor has owned her since July 1979 and has looked after her particularly well. Subject to a full body and mechanical restoration, which was completed in December 2015, by Jentree Classic Cars in East Sussex at a cost of £19,702.55 this roadster presents in delightful condition. The Old English White coachwork is virtually unmarked and the red leather interior the vendor wanted to keep original, it has a delightful patina although some age-related wear. The engine started immediately when requested and sounded lovely, the vendor advises us this MGA drives with no known faults. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a MoT test certificate valid until March 2021 together with an impressive history folder, this quintessentially British sportscar will certainly appeal to the discerning buyer.
The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day."
