At MG, sport was a tradition. The MG TC, TD and TF had attracted young enthusiasts, enjoying the experience of a simple and hassle free sports car. But these models were aging and struggling to cope with more modern competition, like the Triumph TR2 which offered many advantages. Expectations were high when the new MGA was presented in 1955 at the IAA in Frankfurt. MG's new model was brilliant, with a design of great finesse, by Sydney Enever. The wider chassis compared to its predecessors, allowed the occupants to sit lower, in a very British interior where hardiness combined well with seductive charm. Round dials, a short shifter, a low windshield, and a rakish door line, with removable "side-screens", everything contributed to the sporty atmosphere that you would expect of such a car.
This MGA received a proper frame-off restoration between 2011 and 2013. The frame was sandblasted and repainted in Epoxy. The wooden floors are new, and so is the electrical circuit. The front axle, the dynamo, the ignition, gearbox, clutch and 1600cc engine have been reconditioned. More than 13,000 worth of new parts was purchased to complete this restoration. Rims, wheel covers, radiator, brake calipers and drums are all new. An electric fuel pump was installed too. The tight red leather upholstery on new seat cushions has the most beautiful effect. This pretty roadster is ready to take you for a lovely drive or straight into an event like the prestigious Tour Auto.
