Beschreibung
The MGA 1500 Roadster presented here is surely among the most original, best preserved, and well-documented examples to be found anywhere.
Completed in January 1959 and finished in attractive Glacier Blue over black leather, this MG was delivered new to Southern California. Its first owner served as chief mechanic for the Los Angeles County Fire Department, and he used the roadster as daily transportation until 1965, when health issues led him to place the 26,000-mile car in static storage. In the 1990s, his daughter recommissioned the MGA and drove it an additional 10,000 miles before selling it to a local dealer in 2013. The current caretaker acquired the car after being struck by its tremendous originality. He has maintained it ever since and driven it sparingly. Today, the car still shows less than 38,000 miles on its odometer and remains in marvelous unrestored condition, with a consistent patina and charming details throughout.
The trunk contains the original spare (still wearing a period Dunlop tire), as well as the factory-supplied tool roll, jack kit, tonneau, and side curtains. Also accompanying the sale is the BMIHT Certificate, original owner’s and workshop manuals, California black plates, and an impressive documentation file that includes a mileage log from the 1960s, maintenance and registration records – even the literature for the accessory radio and luggage rack fitted in period.
