1958 MG MGA 1500 ROADSTER

Serial number HDK4353193

French collector's registration

Morris Garage, or M.G., is one of an elite group of British brands specialising in the design of sports roadsters, with expertise dating back to the 1930s. After the war, the firm got back on its feet with the T-series models. The evolution continued, and it was in 1955 that the real revolution came with the appearance of the MGA. Presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show after being tested at the 24 Hours of Le Mans as the EX 182, the MGA marked a clean break with the old lines, offering an elegant, racy and resolutely modern design.

With its racing car look and attractive price, the MGA was an immediate commercial success. The United States, which was keen on British roadsters at the time, absorbed most of the production, setting a sales record for a sports car with over 100,000 units sold. Its reputation was further enhanced by the robustness of its powertrain, despite the absence of first gear synchronisation.

The cabin, though spartan, was sporty and functional, with a full dashboard and enough space for two people. True to the concept of the pure roadster, the MGA has no windows in the doors, and its soft top folds away completely, allowing you to fully enjoy the sensations of open-air driving.

The model we are presenting is a 1958 MGA 1500 roadster, delivered new to the USA in a configuration almost identical to that of today, as attested by its British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate (2023). With its oriental red paintwork and red leather interior, this MGA has a timeless appeal. It is fitted with whitewall tyres, disc brakes, sliding side windows, an adjustable steering column and a heating system.

Carefully restored to preserve its authentic character, this MGA is now in fine overall condition. Acquired several years ago by its current owner, it is now just waiting for its next driver to enjoy moments of pure pleasure on the road.

WARNING: the FFVE has made a mistake on the certificate and registration document. The vehicle was not registered in 1967 but in 1958, as stated on the ‘British Motor Industry Heritage Trust’ certificate.
