Our 1970 280SE low-grille 6 cylinder cabriolet is a USA example that has been superbly restored by California based marque specialist, Bernd Fiebig's MB Classic, at the time of restoration which was completed in 2010 Mr. Fiebig performed a fantastic upgrade to the entire driveline to include, a freshly rebuilt Mercedes Benz 5.6 litre V8 engine with its 227hp and 287 lb-ft of torque, mated to a 560SL 4 speed floor shift automatic transmission and, a heavy duty 6.3 rear end.  Also updated at time of restoration was a later generation air conditioning compressor, European driving lights, 300SE style chrome wheel arch trim, and chrome bundt alloy wheels.  The mechanical upgrades, while visually undetectable without lifting the bonnet, splendidly show themselves off both with the smoother and bigger power of the 5.6 V8 as well as gobs more torque, but also a smoother and longer automatic transmission that does not leave you wanting that one more gear as a 280SE can.  Our 5.6 low-grille is outfitted from new with power windows, Behr air conditioning with the aforementioned later-gen compressor, Becker Mexico radio, and black convertible top with cognac leather trim boot.  And of course, we have fitted our beloved tri-color coco- mats.  With just a few hundred examples of the low-grille cabriolet originally built in 1970, our beautifully restored and smartly upgraded 5.6 280SE is an exceptional piece indeed.
