MODEL HISTORY
Launched at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is the first Mercedes to be designed and built from scratch by AMG. Intended to replace the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren and seen as the spiritual successor to the 300SL, the SLS AMG was designed with the iconic ‘gullwing’ doors that were made so famous by the aforementioned 1950’s sports car.

SLS stands for Super Leicht Sport (Super Light Sport). Weighing in at over 100kg less than the SLR covers the ‘Light’ part of the name and being the most powerful naturally aspirated production engine at the time of its launch, with 563bhp, more than covers the ‘Super’ & ‘Sport’, making the SLS a car that literally lives up its name.

The front mid-engine layout makes for a stunning profile with the driver sitting almost over the rear wheels and a huge front extending out ahead with purpose, more than a coincidental nod to the original 300SL and the Grand Prix cars of the 1950s.

Out on the road, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is a fantastically fast and capable motor car. 0-62mph is dispatched in 3.8 seconds and the SLS will keep pulling all the way to a heady 196mph. One can very much choose to tear up the tarmac using the steering wheel mounted paddles to change gears manually, or simply stick it in ‘Drive’ and enjoy the other side of the cars personality as a supremely capable Grand Tourer. This really is a ‘do it all’ supercar.

THIS MOTOR CAR
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG currently offered for sale with The Classic Motor Hub is a stunning example that was delivered new to Germany via the Mercedes-Benz dealer in Krefeld in December 2010. This SLS was a very high specification car from new but the first owner took the decision to really push the boat out and specified Designo Allanite Grey Magno paint, which is a stunning matt finish with flecks of metallic running through. We believe the original owner kept the car until late 2016 at which point it was bought by a gentleman in the UK and registered here in November 2016. We acquired the car on behalf of the current owner in October 2017 and have looked after the car via our storage program ever since.

The car has been very well serviced in its lifetime as you can see below:

10/07/2012 – Mercedes-Benz Centre Krefeld – Service A – 3,575 km
14/08/2013 – Mercedes-Benz Centre Krefeld – Service B – 6,122 km
18/10/2016 – Mercedes-Benz Colindale – Service A – 9,593 km
19/10/2017 – Mercedes-Benz Colindale – Service B – 9,877 miles
12/09/2019 – Mercedes-Benz Swindon – Service B – 10,983 miles
This is a lovely example of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG for sale at The Classic Motor Hub, and is very much ready to go, comes fitted with a CAT 6 tracker, its hand books and a two set of keys.
