The 722 S was a limited series of the SLR roadster, developed by Mercedes Benz and Mc Laren Automotive and presented at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. 722 refers to the start time (07.22) for the Mercedes 300 SLR that was driven to victory in the 1955 Mille Miglia by Stirling Moss and Denis Jenkinson. It is distinguished by slightly different tail-lights and headlamps, large 390mm carbon ceramic front brakes, stiffer and lower suspension, and a larger air intake for the engine. The 90ø V8 front-positioned 5.5-litre engine has three valves per cylinder and develops 650 bhp with the aid of a supercharger, powering this roadster from 0 - 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and giving a top speed of 337 mph. The automatic five-speed AMG Speedshift R gearbox was retained, with gearshift paddles on the steering wheel. The chassis and the body are built in carbon fibre, and there is an electric air-brake that deploys under heavy braking to provide increased rear downforce.
The car in the sale has had two owners and has covered just 6,200 km. It has been maintained by Mercedes France and is presented in as new condition. Finished in " Crystal palladium grey " with black leather and nubuck interior, the electric hood is beautifully upholstered in black and red flecked fabric. This extraordinary, highly powerful roadster, with scissor doors, can't fail to turn heads, and has a place in any Mercedes Benz collection.
