2008 was the year they facelifted the R230 chassis and the same year they used an SL63 AMG as an F1 safety car.
Despite the AMG V8 being naturally aspirated it packs an enormous punch. During the time it was the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in its class. Built using a wealth of racetrack technology the V8 is a peach and manages to push 525hp & 465lb-ft and carry on all the way to 7200rpm. Despite tipping the scales at a hefty 1970kg, the pairing of the 7 speed automatic to the V8 power plant gives the SL63 AMG monumental acceleration in lower gears. This helps achieve the 0 - 62mph dash in just 4.6sec!
