The Model: When the stylish “113” style was first introduced for the 1964 model year with the 230 SL, it was hailed as one of the most innovative luxury sports cars ever produced. Sales were strong and it cemented the Mercedes brand as a producer of car people really wanted. For 1967 that engine was boosted from 2.3L to 2.5L giving the car just a bit more power, but it was the 280 SL released in the latter part of the 1968 model year that brought this beautiful convertible to its fullest potential. Combined with the Bosch electronic fuel injection system, these car deliver performance an enthusiast demanded, but were still tame enough for a relaxing drive or even as a grocery getter appealing to all genders with its style and handsome looks.
