History:
Mercedes-Benz unveiled the W113 at the Geneva Motor Show in 1963. Its slightly concave hardtop quickly earned it the nickname “Pagoda”. Designed by Paul Bracq, this roadster was among the first to feature crumple zones. The 280 SL is its final evolution. It was produced from 1968 to 1971, with 23,885 units built.

🇧🇪 This example left the factory in December 1970 and was delivered new in Belgium. Its first European registration dates from 15/09/1971. The car has several factory options:

automatic gearbox with floor-mounted lever,
power steering,
Becker Europa radio,
Frigiking air conditioning,
its hardtop has a heated rear window.

The roadster underwent a complete restoration several years ago and is presented in superb overall condition. An appraisal was carried out in March 2023.

🚘 The bodywork was completely restored and repainted in its original color. Most of the chrome trim was redone or replaced. Nearly all of the seals were replaced. The brown mohair soft top has been renewed. The car is delivered with its original hardtop. The 14-inch steel wheels were refurbished.

In the cabin, the seats and door panels were redone in brown leather. The top of the dashboard is covered in the same leather. The brown carpets were also replaced. The ivory steering wheel is in good condition. The original Becker Europa radio is still in place. Two three-point seatbelts were added.

⚙️ The M130 fuel-injected inline 6-cylinder was restored to original specifications. Its number is consistent with the type and period. In 2024, the Mercedes-Benz Merbag dealership in Luxembourg carried out a major overhaul including:

a complete service,
replacement of the power steering and fuel pump,
the front calipers, pads and brake fluid were also replaced.

In 2025, the alternator was rebuilt and a voltage regulator added. The belts, spark plugs and speedometer cable were replaced. A complete stainless steel exhaust system was fitted in late 2025. The underbody was cleaned and protected, with no trace of accident found by the appraiser.
