This 190 SL in the very rare color fire red and leather cognac color combination features perfect paint, excellent bodywork, flawless gaps, immaculate chrome, absolutely outstanding and reliable engineering, and a new soft top. With this magnificent vehicle, we are talking about a sought-after automotive classic on the classic car market.

The history of this beautiful roadster begins with its delivery in the Nuremberg branch (Germany), to a Lieutenant Needham, who was probably stationed in Germany. Originally in silver-grey with blue MB-Tex, it made its way across the Atlantic to its new home. The next documented owner as of 1971 is Mr. Aikman from Texas. He kept the vehicle for about 40 years before it made its way back to its original home in Germany in 2011.

Since 1989, the invoices were carefully kept, documenting thorough and regular maintenance of the vehicle. Then, starting in 2013, the new owner from Germany lovingly took care of the touring sports car. Over the next four years, the technology was thoroughly overhauled and maintained before we added it to our collection. Since then, it has been happily used for rides and meetings and is a true enthusiast's vehicle and a faithful travel companion.

History of the series
------------------------
The 190 SL was envisioned as a sporty touring car alongside the 300 SL to expand business in the American market. The idea of the car came from the American general importer Max Hoffmann, who brought it to the attention of the board of directors and finally convinced them. In 1954, the 190 SL was presented for the first time at the New York Auto Show and aroused much enthusiasm. It was then further revised to bring it closer in appearance to the 300 SL and finally presented in its final form at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1955.

Technically, the vehicle was based on the Ponton saloon (W 121). The 190 SL, which was described at the time as a "touring sports car", had many of the same styling elements as its "big brother", the 300 SL, especially the front end. Technically, however, much was taken over from the Ponton models, such as the chassis and the floor assembly. The carburetor engine, on the other hand, was newly developed especially for the 190 SL (M 121 B II). A vehicle with a sporty look and high suitability for everyday use, which is still admired today.
