History:
It was 1955 when the final version of the Mercedes 190 SL appeared for the first time at the 25th Geneva Motor Show. It was created by Max Hoffman (Mercedes’ official importer in the USA), who had been asking for a roadster inspired by the 300 SL, but with less thrust and a medium capacity, and therefore more affordable. In the era of the American economic boom, a prestigious but affordable model for the American middle class, such as the Mercedes 190 SL, was just what was needed to motorise young people with good financial possibilities. From Florida and California. Designed to “be a sports car for everyday use”, the 190 SL still demonstrates its ease of driving, comfort and proverbial reliability, but behind these qualities lies a refined yet solid and reliable manufacturing technique typical of the German automotive industry. So, at the end of the 1950s, the dream car was for the first time within reach of a wide public. More than 50% of its entire production was exported to the United States, where this roadster has always been appreciated.

Our Mercedes-Benz 190 SL.
This model is in excellent condition, in the iconic cement grey colour with grey leather interior. The car was partially restored in 2002, as shown in the invoice by Carrozzeria Oldauto of Cremona.
The body has no scratches or traces of rust, the black hood is also free of tears and works perfectly.
The slightly worn grey leather interior enhances the charm of this incredibly attractive model.
Internal instruments are original and fully functional. The classic white Bakelite and metal steering wheel is a real must-have, as is the gear knob in the same colour.
The engine has been completely overhauled and many of its vital parts have been replaced with new ones or restored to new. When the front bonnet opens, it really amazes you for the cleanliness and shine of its parts.
It starts up without difficulty or loss of power, and on the road the 190 SL still proves its reliability and ease of driving.
