Beschreibung
This lovely 190 SL is a Swiss delivery and was officially imported on the 8th of June 1956 followed by a registration on the 15th of June. In November 1963, at 27’697 kilometres, the Mercedes received a new gearbox. One year later, with then 49’500 kilometres driven, a new exchange engine was installed. In 1966 the car was taken over by its second owner who, in April 1967, at 77’000 kilometres, had a new speedometer with 0 kilometres indicating installed. He cherished his 190 SL, and, according to receipts available, had afforded all the necessary maintenance during his 31 years ownership. Towards the end of 1967, seats and door panels were recovered with new vinyl. In 1971 the coachwork was restored for the first time and repainted in “Papyrus white” and in 1976, a new rear axle was installed. In 1991, at 50’629 kilometres, the second complete coachwork restoration took place during which the car was painted in the actual “Astral silver 735” and a new soft top was installed at the same time. In 1995, at 52’624 kilometres, the engine received a partial overhaul. In 1989 the Mercedes arrived with its third owner who, in 2009 with then 60’000 kilometres showing, passed it on to the vendor. Since then, the SL has been part of his collection and was only used occasionally. With four owners, a rare hard top as well as a soft top and a well-documented history, the 190 SL is in good overall condition. The 69’700 indicated correspond, according to the documentation available, to the actual mileage of the engine of around 97’000 kilometres. The last Veteran MOT was completed in May 2021 allowing the cabriolet to be registered in most Swiss cantons immediately.
