Beschreibung

This handsome 220 S Coupe was restored from 2007–2013 by Henry Oprawski of Henry’s Foreign Automotive Service & Sales, in Phoenix, Oregon. The car was disassembled and stripped to bare metal and, according to a restoration summary on file, the engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, steering, and exhaust were all redone. This process was extensively photo-documented and the Mercedes is also accompanied by invoices and notes documenting the whole project.

The consignor acquired the car in 2013 and had his in-house mechanic and South Bay Autohaus of Hawthorne, California attend to various items and upgrade the car even further. For increased performance, the car was upgraded to twin Weber carburetors, but the original Solexes come with the car. The clutch was replaced and the gearbox resealed, an electronic ignition was fitted, the rear axle seals were replaced, and the shift linkage was adjusted. The interior was beautifully redone by Classic Car Interiors of Van Nuys, California at a cost of $17,000. Offered from the care of a dedicated Mercedes-Benz collector, this 220 S Coupe is a lovely example of mid-century elegance and precision engineering.
