Presented at Frankfurt in 1997, the E55 AMG is equipped with the new 5.4-liter M113 V8 engine prepared by the Affalterbach wizard. It develops 354 hp and is mated to a 5-speed automatic gearbox, which was very modern at the time.
Our example was delivered new at the end of 1998 to Würzburg in Germany, then exported to Japan before returning to Holland in 2018. Its current owner purchased it in 2020 with 128,558 km on the clock.
Today, with just under 134,000 km, our E55 is in very good condition, with well-preserved emerald black metallic bodywork (189 U). Specific bumpers and rocker panels, chromed exhaust tips and 18-inch AMG wheels give a touch of sportiness to this status station wagon.
Inside, the comfortable black leather upholstery is in excellent condition. In its Avantgarde trim, the car is very well equipped, with a sunroof, heated seats and cruise control. The AMG speedometer, graduated up to 280 km/h, is a reminder of the car's dynamic capabilities. There are just a few cracks in the dashboard and woodwork varnish, and the headliner is peeling off at the rear of the roof.
At the end of 2024, the car underwent a major overhaul, including an engine oil change, preventive replacement of the water pump and the addition of 4 Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires; it has been driven very little since then. During our test drive, we found it to be in good working order, and were charmed by the power of the V8. Ideal for dads in a hurry, it will carry the whole family at high speed in appreciated comfort.
