Beschreibung

GENERAL

The car presented here is a 1960 Mercedes-Benz 300D “Adenauer”. The current owner bought the car from its original owner a number of years back, making this effectively a two-owner car. All but hand-built as the company flagship, the 300d is often identified as an Adenauer after Konrad Adenauer, the first chancellor of the Federal Republic of German.

The car left the factory as a closed 4-door model, but the current owner has had this car professionally converted to Cabriolet specifications in minute detail. It is now a perfect copy of the factory built cabriolets, of which only 65 were made.

The roof structure of these cars was conceived from the factory as a bolted-on part, meaning that the cabriolet conversion doesn’t affect the structural integrity of the body shell.

The car is in immaculate condition in all its aspects. The included taxation report even states that the car represents the pinnacle of restoration quality achievable today.

The report values the replacement cost (“Wiederbeschaffungswert”) of this fine car at 250,000 EUR. This is a significant amount but probably a very realistic estimate of what it would cost to recreate this car. With original factory built Cabriolet-D cars starting at around 600.000 EUR, and the cost of constructing a similar car in excess of 250.000 EUR, the buyer of this car is probably going to walk away with a bargain.
EXTERIOR

The white paintwork is in perfect condition and executed to a very high standard. The chrome trim has been replated and is in perfect condition. All the rubber seals are new.

The convertible top is new and trimmed in the original specification Sonnenland Classic material. Tt fits beautifully, with no damage, rips or tears.
INTERIOR

The leather seats, door panels, dashboard and carpets have all been retrimmed to a very high standard. The seat fillings were also renewed at this time.

The instruments are all in working condition and the odometer is displaying 74.429 miles.

The headliner and insulation layers of the foldable roof are all made with the correct original type materials.

The wooden veneers have been refinished and are in beautiful condition.

ENGINE

The fuel injected 3.0 L six-cylinder M189 engine has a factory output of 180hp at 5500 rpm, starts on the button and runs smoothly. It’s mated to an automatic transmission and the car drives, shifts and brakes as it should.

The revision of the mechanicals in this car has been carried out with depth of knowledge about this model, which immediately translates in the driving experience.
The car is in immaculate condition in all its aspects. The included taxation report even states that the car represents the pinnacle of restoration quality achievable today.
BODY

The undercarriage is very clean and tidy and doesn’t requie any attention or work. The suspension looks in good order, with no detectable wear.
PAPER TRAIL

The Dora Cabriolet comes with an extensive valuation report, a German “TüV: Technische Prüfstelle für den Kraftfahrzeugverkehr”, a US title and proof that all EU import taxes have been paid upon arrival in Europe.
