Launched in November 1951, the type (W186) 300 Cabriolet D was built on an older chassis that was fitted with a newer straight-6 3.0L engine with an increased power output. Despite the body work, the type D was a fairly large vehicle that provided comfortable seating for up to six passengers. Among the various technological improvements that made their way under the car’s hood, the most notable must have been the load-levelling suspension which could be activated/deactivated through a simple dashboard-mounted switch.
The spectacular example we are proud to offer today has incredibly remained in the hands of its first owners (a noble family from the Veneto region of Italy) since new.
