Beschreibung
"The W114 coupé heralded a completely new range of cars for Mercedes-Benz. Unlike everything else on offer, this car did not take any previous elements from the standard 180 from the 1950s. A new designer, Paul Bracq, was introduced, who penned a pure and uncluttered motorcar. The roof line came down and the seats were lowered to maintain headroom. The pillars were removed and all four windows wound down completely out of sight. The engine was a 2.5 litre, fuel injected unit with Bosch Jetronic injection, delivering 148bhp and propelling this model up to a perfectly respectable 115mph.
This 250C was first registered in the state of California in 1972 and the history files suggests a change of ownership from Mr. Hieduke, in North Hollywood, to a Mr. Carhart, in suburban Los Angeles, took place in 2012. The history file accompanying this car comes complete with servicing and maintenance records dating back to July 2011 from North Hollywood. The majority of the invoices from its time in California relate to general upkeep including filters, oil, pads, discs and various tuning related work to the carburettors and a host of other remedial work to replace worn seals, gaskets, bushings, cables, bearings and a host of suspension components. The vehicle was later imported to the United Kingdom in 2018 where it was used in its unrestored state until 2020. Since then a comprehensive restoration has been undertaken. The body was stripped to a bare shell prior to painting (670 Light Ivory) where any minor bodywork issues were attended to. Structurally the vehicle was in remarkable condition evident of its time spent in California. The vehicle has received a new exhaust, suspension, brakes, shocks and many other mechanical parts. A new air-conditioning system was installed by Mirage London. During the rebuild all door and body seals were replaced with genuine Mercedes-Benz items. A large amount of chrome was re-plated and replaced. Additionally, the front and rear lights were changed for European specification versions and the side markers were replaced with genuine Mercedes-Benz items sourced from the US. Cosmetically the exterior now presents exceptionally. The interior has been fully retrimmed in leather with the correct perforations in the seat centres. The car has new correct German carpets throughout and headliner. In conclusion a terrific opportunity to acquire a comprehensively restored 250C W114 coupé with the desirable options and a wonderful period colour scheme.
