The R129 generation SL model received a second facelift with slight design modifications in 1998. In order to give the sports car an even more dynamic appearance, discreet stylistic touch-ups included a slightly modified rear end in which the now monochromatic glass covers of the tail lights presented themselves in a gentler look with only three ribs and new oval tailpipe trim for the exhaust system including adjustments on the bumper to further emphasize the car’s sporty looks. A round shape was the dominant feature of the new exterior mirrors, adapted to the design of the SLK and the most important external identifier of the facelift models.
Technologically, the 4-valve cylinder head was a new development; like that of the six-cylinder engine it had adjustable inlet camshafts. As with both six-cylinder engines, the exhaust and catalyst system had been thoroughly revised. The sheer power of the 5-liter 4-valve engine gave the 500 SL breathtaking performance far in excess of that of its predecessor: 0-60 mph was achieved in 6.2 seconds and the top speed was electronically limited to 160 mph.
In its final year of production a limited „Silver Arrow Edition“ was built for the U.S. and U.K. markets, with 1515 SL 500 and 100 SL 600 units delivered in the United States. The SL 500 models featured the following equipment:

– Black interior with two-tone black / metallic silver leather on seats, door panels, steering wheel and shift knob
– Metallic-effect black birds-eye maple wood trim on console and doors
– Heated seats
– Integrated trunk-mounted 6-disc CD changer
– Machined aluminum trim with chrome bezels for instrument cluster and shift gate
– Rubber-studded aluminum pedals
– Illuminated stainless steel door sill trim
– Exclusive leather-trimmed floor mats
– Silver Arrow insignia on front fenders, door sills, seats and ashtray cover
– Silver Arrow accessory set: an exclusive aluminum-finish briefcase, key chain and pen, each with Silver Arrow insignia, plus a certificate of authenticity for each car
The vehicle featured here has never been titled and it still retains its MSO (Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin) documentation which we as a manufacturer provide to our new car dealerships to title a car to its first owner.  It presents in incredible condition with a mere 142 miles from new and is ready for its first owner.
