"Mercedes-Benz have been producing an SL model or range of models since 1954. The larger, third generation SL was launched in 1971, initially with just a 3.5-litre engine (350SL) mated to four-speed automatic transmission. The car featured a two-door monocoque body shell with independent suspension all round, coil springs and anti-roll bar at the front and semi-trailing arms, coil springs and anti-roll bar at the rear. The power assisted steering was Daimler-Benz's own re-circulating ball system.This wonderful 300SL was one of the last examples produced with factory fitted air conditioning. Presented in very good order throughout, this Mercedes has very few blemishes to show; however, as you would expect with a car of this age there are the odd age-related marks. The SL has been maintained regardless of cost with much of the work carried out by marque specialists The SL Shop. The paintwork is in good condition and the interior presents well, the galvanised chassis also presents in good order. The comprehensive history file that accompanies the car includes many invoices for maintenance work as well as a total of 28 MoT test certificates and a service booklet with 19 service stamps.
