The 300 S Coupé offered for sale here was delivered on 12.10.1953 to a company named "Illig" near Göttingen (Germany). It was completely restored in Germany in 2004 and since then moved only about 17,500 km. It is therefore still in a fascinatingly good condition today.

During the restoration, a white (050) paint finish was chosen in combination with a dark brown interior. Air conditioning and a modern radio were retrofitted.

Although the car could certainly compete with Ferrari and Maserati some 70 years ago, today the 300 S prefers relaxed outings and rallies.

History of the series
------------------------
The Mercedes W 188 series was presented to the public at the Paris Motor Show in October 1951. The coupés, cabriolets and roadsters were derived from the W 186 series sedan and had a wheelbase that was 15 cm shorter than it. They were the last Daimler-Benz models to be built on a chassis seperated from the body. With a total of 560 examples of the 300 S and 200 of the 300 Sc, the W 188 series is rarer than the 300 SL (W 198). It is not without reason the W 188 are the most expensive model series of Mercedes over the entire construction period.

In 1955, the model series was revised and renamed the 300 Sc. Both versions, the 300 S and the 300 Sc, are among the most exclusive Mercedes-Benz passenger car models of the post-war period and today, along with the 300 SL, are particularly sought-after collectors' cars.
