Launched in 2019, the McLaren Senna was launched by CEO Mike Flewitt as the ‘personification of McLaren’s motorsport DNA’. A brand steeped in Formula 1 history and named after arguably the great F1 driver of all time, Ayrton Senna, the ‘Senna’ is very much a road car developed from countless hours of fine-tuning Formula 1 and GT race cars leading the racetracks of the world for over 50 years.

The Senna is the most hardcore road car McLaren has ever built. Whilst not a replacement for the P1, the Senna certainly learns from its development. It benefits from the improved 4.0 twin-turbocharged V8 powerplant that was introduced on the 720S and does away with the hybrid system altogether benefitting from the 150kg weight-saving. The revised capacity upgrade sees a rise of both 60bhp and 60lbft over the P1’s engine-only statistics to 789bhp and 590lbft respectively.

It was clear to see the Senna was designed with function in mind, from the moment it broke the covers at the McLaren ball. However, whilst the road car was capable of producing 800kg of downforce, the GTR dials it up an extra notch. Through the use of a heavily revised aerodynamics package, a touch more power, and ultimately the option for slicks, the GTR is freed from the restraints of a road car. The fastest closed McLaren ever built, the GTR produces 1000kgs of downforce, 814bhp – taking the engine over 200bhp/litre resulting in a track car 3-5 seconds a lap faster than a 720S GT3 car depending on the circuit.

Beneath the all-Carbon Fibre bodywork, the Senna GTR receives the updated Monocage III-Rs Carbon Fibre tub further evolved from the road car. Stiffer, of course, the updated tub also makes entry and exit significantly easier whilst benefitting from FIA approved 6-point harness fixing points.

McLaren has delivered what is surely the ultimate track-driving experience. Built from the learnings of 50 years of motorsport experience, the GTR is the fastest car McLaren have built short of Formula 1.

Limited to just 75 units and each one selling out as soon as it was launched, the GTR was a significantly rarer proposition than road going Senna. Built without compromise, it still retains the approachability and ease of use that McLaren road cars are known for.

Supplied new to its first owner, this example has covered just 80 kilometres from new. Finished in MSO Defined Seca Blue with matching Aero Blade. Featuring polycarbonate door inserts, the cabin retains the bright feeling of the Senna road car and the accentuated conveyance of speed as a result. The car sees the sports exhaust fitted with the Dark Stealth treatment; the rear wing end plate is finished in exposed gloss carbon fibre.

Inside the car sees Carbon Black Alcantara with an MSO Defined carbon fibre sill panel, FIA-specification race seat with FIA 6-point harnesses. A passenger seat was optioned and fitted.
