Chassis No. ZAMBMRAB6S0457847

The MC12 project, originally code-named MCC (Maserati Corse Competizione), was conceived from the beginning as a purpose‑built FIA GT contender, marking Maserati's return to the racetrack for the first time in 37 years. While it shared its carbon fiber tub and Ferrari-built 6.0-liter V12 with the Enzo, the MC12 was a true homologation special reminiscent of Porsche's 911 GT1 and Mercedes-Benz's CLK GTR programs of the late 1990s. Campaigned most famously by Vitaphone Racing, the MC12 GT1 collected six FIA Teams' Championships, two Manufacturers' Championships for Maserati, six Drivers' Championships, and an astonishing 40 victories in the 96 races it entered over its seven-year competitive lifespan.

Two decades on, Maserati marked the anniversary of that campaign with a pair of Fuoriserie special series built on the MC20, each limited to 20 cars. The Icona looks to the MC12 Stradale, while the Leggenda draws on the Vitaphone GT1. Introduced in 2020, the MC20 is built around a carbon fiber monocoque developed with Dallara and carries the Nettuno V6, a dry-sump 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged unit designed and built entirely in-house. It produces 621 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and 538 lb-ft of torque from 3,000 rpm, driving the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transaxle. Maserati quotes 0-60 mph in under 3.0 seconds and a top speed beyond 202 mph.

The Icona's mechanical specification is unchanged, but its Bianco Audace Matte and Blu Stradale presentation traces back through the MC12 Stradale to the Trofeo Light that ran at Daytona, itself styled after the Birdcage Type 61. The Fuoriserie logo appears low on each flank with the Italian tricolore on the doors beneath the MC20 lettering. The carbon fiber engine cover wears a numbered "ICONA. UNA DI 20" badge. Inside are four-way lightweight monocoque racing seats in black and blue Alcantara over silver backing, Trident and "Icona" embroidery on the headrests, a carbon fiber interior package, Sonus faber audio, electronic limited-slip differential, and a front axle lifter.

Chassis number 457847 was delivered new through Foreign Cars Charlotte in January 2025. Shortly thereafer it was acquired by the consignor, a Texas-based collector, and is understood to be one of eight Iconas allocated to North America. It was maintained by Maserati Alfa Romeo of Austin in July and October of 2025 and today shows just 458 miles at the time of cataloging.

Taken with the lineage the Icona celebrates, the consignor set out to carry the tribute a step further, reportedly investing some $30,000 in bringing the livery closer still to that of the 2004 car. Rather than touch the wheels fitted at delivery, a second set of factory Trident wheels was sourced and refinished, polished and painted white to draw out the spoke design, and fitted with custom center caps in the two-red, two-blue arrangement worn by the MC12. The gloss blue was matched to the factory Blu Stradale and carried down across the front and rear fascias and the aero elements around the car, continuing the color break as the original does. A pair of hood strakes were 3D printed and color-matched to echo those of the MC12, and these sit over the factory-painted strakes. The work is restrained, and much of it is reversible if desired, while the original wheels, unmodified, accompany the car.

The MC12 program ultimately achieved well beyond what many thought possible, successfully restoring Maserati to its rightful place among the world's most premier racing marques while creating one of the most coveted road cars of the modern era in the process. This faithful homage, limited to just 20 examples and underpinned by the performance of the contemporary MC20, carries that story into the present, and having covered just 738 miles since delivery, chassis 457847 remains essentially as it left Modena.
