The Maserati Indy we are presenting is a version equipped with a 4.2L V8 engine developing 260 horsepower, enough to reach high speeds. It left the factory in 1971 and has a nice patina of grey paint and a dashboard with leather that still needs to be refreshed. On the upholstery side, the black leather seats seem to have been redone recently and are in good shape without sagging at the front and rear.
The car's electrics: window regulators and retractable headlights are functional and the car is quite sound.
The original wooden steering wheel is unfortunately cracked at the base without being broken in two, it still allows the car to be driven but will have to be changed quickly.
A mechanical overhaul is to be expected to ensure the durability of this beautiful coupe but our road test demonstrated a good functioning of the engine and gearbox assembly once the warm-up time is done, the V8 wakes up with a fat, almost American sound that does not leave indifferent the users that we pass; a time of adaptation is to be taken into account to understand the functioning of the gearbox with very close ratios and with a very high slip point. The driving position is perfectly suited to a tall person and the comfort of the car is appreciated with a smooth, low revving drive where the engine becomes almost discreet.
This is a rare opportunity to see a Maserati Indy for sale, a smart way to stand out at the various upcoming enthusiasts' gatherings and a good investment when you know the price of a Gibhli from which it takes on many of the aesthetic and technical characteristics. Even if this car needs to be refreshed, it still has very good qualities, especially mechanical ones, and it is when driving it that one can affirm that it is a real Maserati.
