Beschreibung

1962 MASERATI 3500 GTI COUPE:
--Argento Auteuil metallic with Black leather interior, Black carpeting, 3.5 liter straight 6-cylinder engine, 5-Speed ZF manual transmission, Styled by Touring of Milan, Lucas fuel injection, Matching Numbers, Highly original, Maserati Classiche heritage certificate.

The Touring of Milan bodied 3500 GT was launched in 1957 and displayed new styling and technologies for Maserati and their future models. Initially producing 220bhp on earlier models, in 1962, Maserati introduced the 3500 with Lucas mechanical fuel injection. With the injection, the inline 6-cylinder now produced 240bhp and increased efficiency as well. In 1962, the model gained a 5-speed manual gearbox from ZF and four-wheel disc brakes. Adding the Lucas fuel injection system made this Maserati the first fuel-injected Italian production car.

This 3500 GTi is highly original, a well-cared for survivor. Originally delivered in Italy to a Mr. Albino Buticchi, further early history is limited until regular documented maintenance from 1977 to 1985 was recorded within the service booklet. This GTi was then put into hibernation until discovered once again, purchased in 2001 by a Texas collector. It was found in highly original condition and in working order. The car was shipped to his home in Texas where the collector initiated further mechanical servicing as well as a total rebuild of the engine and Lucas fuel injection system. It was then enjoyed for seasonal use and until being sold in 2016 to its previous collector owner. Prior to the sale, the GTi was shipped to Wayne Carini’s F40 Motorsports for a mechanical servicing-reconditioning. The story and the sale was documented and featured on an episode of “Chasing Classic Cars” with host Wayne Carini.

In a stable of other highly original Italian and British sports cars, the previous owner made sure all systems in the Maserati were always maintained regardless of use. This GTi is in exceptional condition although highly original throughout and would certainly be an excellent contender for any concours preservation class. The 3500 GT’s Argento Auteuil metallic paint seems to be an older respray, the remainder of GTi’s interior, chrome, and misc. details are all original and in superb, maintain condition, look and feel as when produced in December of 1961.

This GTi is complete with its Maserati Classiche certification, Build sheet, Certificate of origin, keys and original brochure. They are only original once and this is truly an excellent opportunity to own an iconic piece of Maserati history. We believe we have priced this 3500 GTi extremely fairly in comparison to others within world’s automotive marketplace. This, especially given its being well-serviced, superb provenance and ready to be use condition. We truly look forward to giving this 3500 GTi another wonderful home where it will be loved and preserved once again.
