The second generation (better known as Series 2), the one currently on the market, was introduced in 2001. Technically, it is very similar to its ancestor, while the design is more modern and bold; the rear features a striking extractor and a massive spoiler, while the front boasts elongated light sets and larger air intakes.

The interior in the Lotus Elise Series 2 is more refined than before and the set-up is tuned for neutral road handling with less oversteer. The engine at launch was a 1.8, 122 hp petrol of Rover origin. In 2002, when power was reduced to 121 hp, this unit was joined by an increased 158 hp version featuring a gearbox with shorter intermediate ratios and a longer fifth gear.

The car at auction is in very good overall condition, both in the bodywork and mechanics.
