The Lotus Eleven, chassis number 11/551, is part of the second series of Lotus Eleven units produced. A photocopy of a Lotus Engineering sales invoice dated 23rd June 1959 to Mr J. Tomlinson shows chassis number 11/551 sold as a damaged chassis for £70, plus front suspension struts, an anti-roll bar, a Nash metropolitan rear axle, five damaged metal wheels and a damaged steering wheel.

Mr Tomlinson appears to have kept the car for at least twenty-seven years, as evidenced by a previous UK registration which registered the car in July 1986 under registration Q139 GFV, with the first digit ‘Q’ used by the DVLA to identify a vehicle whose primary components could not be dated.
According to the historic Registrar Lotus, the car was at this point sold by Mr Tomlinson to E. Repetto in Italy through Michael Lavers, a London-based car dealer.

Having remained in Italy since then, Repetto is believed to have restored the car. At this time, the car was equipped with a Ford engine and a Westfield fibreglass body.
Today the car is fitted with a 1,220 cc Coventry Climax engine with non-original later type carburettors, exhaust manifold, distributor and dynamo.

Inspection valid until June 2022.
