The History of the Lotus Type 47 GT
In 1966, while the Type 46 was still on the market, Team Lotus began racing the Type 47, a track-modified Lotus Europa, equipped with a 165 hp (123 kW) 1594 cm³ DOHC engine, which used a block Cosworth and a 5-speed Hewland FT 200 gearbox.
The Type 47 is proudly remembered for taking first and second places (driven by John Miles and Jackie Oliver) in their first race at Brands Hatch on December 26, 1966. It is estimated that 55 Type 47s were built between 1966 and 1970.

Our Lotus Type 47 GT (Chassis 21)
This car was part of a batch of five white Lotus 47GTs delivered in June 1967 to the Portuguese Lotus Dealer.
Our Lotus was painted green and with that livery later participated in all competitions.
The car immediately showed its potential and competitiveness from its first race in Vila Real (Portugal), in which two Lotus finished the race in 2nd and 3rd place.
The car in 1967 was driven by Mané Nogueira Pinto and also participated in the Mil Milhas in Brazil, without however racing on the track, as the Portuguese team then chose to compete with a Porsche 911 as it was more suited to the track.
Upon its return to Europe, this 47GT 21 was bought by the Portuguese driver Jorge Fausto de Figueiredo, who used it for the car races that took place in Angola, then a Portuguese colony.
In 1970 the car passed into the property of Waldemar Silva, another Portuguese driver.
In 1975, following the achievement of Independence, all cars belonging to Portuguese citizens in Angola were sent back to their homeland.
Even our Lotus 47 GT 21 took the road of Europe where it remained hidden until the early 1980s, when Massimo Pedrazzi (father of the current owner) found it in a garage near the Monza racetrack, jealously guarded by his owner of the time, an engine enthusiast named Alberto.
The Italian driver Massimo Pedrazzi had achieved great notoriety in the Brazilian motoring scene in the 1970s, as he used to compete against pilots of great international standing of the caliber of Wilson and Emerson Fittipaldi and Carlos Pace.
As a driver, Pedrazzi had the opportunity to participate, together with the Portuguese team, in all the international category car races that took place in Brazil and to drive, among others, cars such as the Lotus GT47.
In addition to the numerous successes on the tracks all over Europe, Pedrazzi joined others as a manufacturer, in fact, in the 1970s, he had started the production of Formula 5, cars with which legendary champions such as Nicky Lauda and Nelson Piquet also competed, which would later became Formula 1 World Champions.
In 2010 the Lotus 47 GT, still owned by the Pedrazzi family, was restored as new thanks to a thorough restoration of the bodywork, engine and mechanical parts to return to racing in 2019.
This very rare Lotus 47GT is now part of a private collection and is on sale in our showroom.
