The Lincoln-Zephyr was both one of the most handsome American cars and one of the most revolutionary. The word "teardrop" was most applicable to its overall form with repeated design cues found in the taillights, fender skirts, running board perimeters and trim emblems. The interior features a mahogany-metal finish and a two-spoke steering wheel. The three-speed transmission is controlled by a steering column lever (Ford called it "Finger Tip Gearshift"). This was a new-for-1940 body style and there was a good chance that you would see such a car at the smartest country club or the most fashionable equestrian event of the day. It had the benefit of a full-width rear seat and your personal possessions could be transported in the rear trunk area.

At the start of this customization a good solid three window Lincoln-Zephyr was found. Next was the five year restoration and customization that brought this striking car to where it is today. It was chopped 5.5-inches and de-chromed. The old powertrain was exchanged for a new 350 cubic inch crate engine, along with a 400 series automatic transmission.

All of the mechanical components on the car have been rebuilt; and power steering, windows and door poppers have been added. Vintage Air is installed on the car, but it is not charged. The car sits on new leaf springs which give it a smooth ride down the highway. The car has original 1937 Zephyr taillights, Colorado custom wheels, customized rear bumper, whitewall tires, dual rearview mirrors and dual spotlights.

This Lincoln Zephyr has a new custom designed and installed interior that adds to the “wow” factor on this custom car. This car is also an Autorama, Riddler eligible car. It is not a fiberglass body, but an original steel Zephyr.

A closer look at this beautiful creation will show that no cost were spared in the restoration.
