Beschreibung

"Land Rovers were inspired by the US-built Willys Jeep immediately after the war. By 1992, Land Rover claimed that 70% of all the vehicles they had ever built were still in use. Before the war, Rover had produced luxury cars which then ceased to be in demand in the post-war period. Raw materials were also strictly rationed to companies building construction or industrial equipment. Rover's original factory in Coventry had also been bombed, forcing the company to move into a huge factory it had built in Solihull to construct aircraft.
The Series III is the most common vehicle with 440,000 built. The headlights were moved to the wings and the traditional metal grille featured on its predecessor, was replaced with a plastic one. The production run for the Series III was from 1971 through to 1985, and during this cycle in 1976, the 1,000,000th Land Rover rolled off the production line. The Series III saw many changes in the later part of its life as Land Rover updated the design to meet increased competition.
This petrol Series III 109 was originally registered to the British Army from new and utilised as a communication support vehicle. Presented in Military Green, this example has been subject to a major recommissioning which took place in the winter of 2021/2022. As part of the recommissioning the brakes have been overhauled, including all new brake lines. The original engine had seized therefore a replacement was sourced and fitted; the original engine is supplied if desired. A new PerTronix car ignition system, radiator, and water pump combined to all new cooling hoses were also fitted.
Upon inspection the bulkhead and chassis are reported to be in great condition. The odometer reads 16,001 miles which is believed to be accurate given the vehicle was out of service since by 1990. Fitted with five brand new BFG Goodrich tyres value over £1,000 alone, this is a fabulous example of a classic Land Rover and one with a background in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces.Interested parties should note that the paperwork for this Lot is arriving on Saturday at 1pm (including V5 registration document).Included with this Lot is a full roof rack, spare set of doors and the original matching numbers engine, this would all need to be collected HP10 (Buckinghamshire).
