90 Soft Top 2.5i

In 1990, Land Rover produced approximately 20,000 to 25,000 Defenders (90 and 110 combined).

The vast majority were diesel models (mainly 200Tdi).

The 2.5i petrol versions accounted for less than 10% of total production.

The Defender 90 + Soft Top + 2.5 petrol combination was even rarer: probably only a few hundred units in 1990 (estimate < 500).

The 1990 Defender 90 2.5 petrol is considered a rare and atypical version that was not widely sold at the time, often intended for export or military contracts, and even rarer in the original soft top version.

Its high fuel consumption made it unpopular for a long time, but today its rarity and authenticity make it a collector's item.
