- A legendary rally car
- Exceptional handling
- Superb original condition
When it was introduced by Nuccio Bertone at the 1970 Turin Motor Show, the prototype Stratos was powered by the four cylinder Lancia HF engine. This ultra low Coupée emerged a year later in its final form powered by a Ferrari V6 engine. The decision to manufacture a short series of Stratos was taken in 1971 so that Lancia could compete in the World Rally Championship. The outcome was an unqualified success, three consecutive World Championships in 1974, 1975 and 1976.
We are offering a 1976 Lancia Stratos in the Stradale or Street version. This car has spent most of its life in Italy and has only had four owners. Despite being perfect for rallying and hill climbs, this car was never used in competition in period. After the italian owners, the car was aquired by the current French owner who took advantage of his superb Stratos to enter the 2014 Tuscany Rally and the 2015 Tour Auto. In this latter event, Team Artcurial ran in convoy with the Stratos in their Lotus Elite and can vouch for the owner's skill and ability at its wheel. His consistency earned him ninth place in the regularity classification as well as victory in the demanding regularity classification on the Pau Arnos circuit. At the end of the rally, the owner confirmed the car had performed perfectly and used virtually no oil or water. To conform with the regulations, the car was fitted with a fire extinguisher and detachable harnesses, the original safety belts are still on the car. A new set of Michelin XWX tyres were fitted for the event. They are still on the car and in good condition.
Straight after each of these rallies the car was taken to Normandie Moteur Service for servicing. Its red paintwork is in very good condition and its interior trimmed in Alcantara is in beautiful original condition. Its orange carpets will take you straight back to the Seventies. This dashboard is complete and in very good order. This lovely Stratos will encourage its lucky drivers to travel back in time to those happy days when Stratos carried off their World Championships. Who couldn't resist dreaming of taking the wheel of this legendary, mint condition Stratos?
