In 1922, Lancia unveiled the Lambda, a revolutionary new model that is now regarded as one of Vincenzo Lancia’s earliest masterpieces. The Lambda presented here, chassis 12968, is a desirable 4th Series example featuring the coveted early-style “little door” torpédo coachwork, dogleg windscreen, and aluminum dashboard. Originally registered in London, this Lambda was later kept under the stewardship of Mr. Antrobus in Bath, South West England, UK for a remarkable 43 years, according to a previous description on file. The Lancia was purchased in 2000 by a Swedish collector looking for a suitable 4th Series model, and he had marque specialists Scheldt & Pettet of Harrow, Middlesex, England, perform a restoration with no expense spared.
In 2015, the Lancia joined the consignor’s esteemed collection in Switzerland, and he had marque specialists Auto Colombo of Milan oversee an extensive restoration, which included cosmetic work and a refurbishment of the car’s V-4 engine. In addition, the consignor enlisted Fabio Calligaris of Inzago, Italy, to reupholster the interior, ensuring that all materials used had the correct appearance and texture. During this process, the four-speed gearbox that had been previously installed was removed and a proper three-speed unit was fitted. Today, this 4th Series Torpédo presents wonderfully and offers a unique chance to acquire one of the most advanced and impressive prewar automobiles.
*Please note that this vehicle has been accepted to the Mille Miglia’s Warm Up USA Event in November 2023, subject to registration and payment of entry fee.
