Model history

With the arrival of the Flavia in 1960, Lancia returned to a traditional radiator shield after some years with rectangular grilles on the Flaminias and later Appia. The Lancia Fulvia had a very efficient design and like the Flaminia, the Flavia had a subframe, but it was much more useful on the Flavia with the engine and gearbox built together. In 1962 the first of many variants appeared. Special-bodied Flavias included a Pininfarina coupe, a Vignale coupe and 2+2 convertible and an extraordinary Zagato.

The Flavia Zagato was simply called the Sport and it may be regarded as on to the most exotic of Zagato’s designs. For both the Zagato and the Vignale the V4 engine was a modified and so-called ‘’Variante 1005’’ specification, complete with Nardi liners and pistons to give 1.727cc. The Flavia Sport shared the saloons instrument panel, but interior shapes were round and soft. This car could be described as an early Panoramica Zagato style, complete with a later aerodynamic approach.

According to many, the Sport Zagato should be considered the most desirable Flavia. The car performed better than the coupe or convertible.

This example

This specific Lancia Flavia Sport Zagato was sold new to opera singer Mrs. Horsense from Lutry, Switzerland on 3 July 1963. The car comes with a very extensive history file from new and is complete with the original (!) invoice of the car. Presented as ordered new in Grigio Inglewood with a pelle rossa interior.

Mrs. Hortense must have loved the extravagant Sport Zagato as she kept the car an impressive period of 48 years. In 2011 the car was sold to a well known collector and exported to the Netherlands. The car was professionally restored in the period 2011-2015 by Dutch specialists.

Only 4 owners from new and full history since day 1. The car is Dutch (EEC) registered and comes with a fresh APK (like MOT/TUV/CT).

This extraordinary Sport Zagato is one of just 726 examples built. Driving a Flavia always turns out to be a relaxing experience in this piece of Italian refinement.

Price is euro 79.800,-.
