The Lancia Flaminia, named after the via Flaminia, the road leading from Rome to Rimini, was produced from 1957 to 1960. It was Lancia’s flagship at the time, replacing the Aurelia. Throughout its lifetime, it saw various version as sedans, coupés. The Flaminia coupé and convertible were coach-built cars with bodies from several prestigious Italian coachbuilders such as Pininfarina, Touring and Zagato.

This specific example is a first series Flaminia Touring Convertible of which only 421 were built. Initially, the Touring Convertible was intended for Maserati, rather than Lancia. Maserati had the intention to market these Touring-bodied convertibles, but unfortunately the plan failed. Lancia purchased the bodywork from Touring and fitted them with their own lightweight V-6 engine.

This particular Flaminia GT 2.5 Convertible is amongst the first produced. The first eighty-two cars built contained several Maserati parts like the orange-colored indicators on both fenders, have a slightly different location of the ignition switch, and their indicator lights are located in front of the driver on the dashboard. Restored by a top Lancia specialist in the Netherlands, it has been fully restored without regard to expense, with every part removed from the car, inspected, and disassembled when needed to be improved, whilst respecting the car’s originality. This includes the bodywork, interior, engine, gearbox, and clutch. Furthermore, the car has been accordingly upgraded to give its next owner an incredible driving experience, including being fitted with heated seats. Certain parts, like the brakes, have been replaced by stainless steel upgrades, resulting in improved reliability. Furthermore, the car has been fitted with brand new wiring throughout.

Importantly, the car retains its original engine, gearbox, and has been restored to its original colours of Grigio Cascine with a beige interior. It has been driven less than 1,000 km since the completion of its restoration. As such, the car presents beautifully throughout, even underneath. A list showing all the components restored is included in the history file, and details of its upgrades, all installed to make the car more trouble free to drive but with regard in preserving its originality.
